Another peaceful night boondocking at the Elephant. It was pretty chilly, getting down into the low 30s but the sun warmed things up pretty quick this morning.
I'm thinking I will leave here Sunday morning if it's not too windy, today has been beautiful, but they are predicting some wind in the teens for Sunday and Monday, but New Mexico winds have a habit of going from the teens to "tie down the dog" in the duration of a moment so I'll just wait and see how things go.
I still haven't made up my mind if I want to head South then East, or East and then South, and I probably won't know until I get in the truck and get ready to leave. I have found that making decisions at the last minute saves me from having to change my mind several times which I would probably do if I made the decision two days ago. So putting off a decision until the last minute makes me look more resolute and decisive.
One of the reasons I'm not leaving till Sunday is I figure if I have to stay someplace like a state Park or any other place that might be crowded it's easier to find a place to stay on a weekday than it is a weekend. And of course Sunday afternoon counts as a weekday because that's when parks and other such places tend to clear out. So it gives me a little edge in being able to find a place to stay particularly when I'm traveling in places I've never been before, or haven't been for a long time.
I've also found that when boondocking in a Walmart parking lot Friday night and Saturday night tend to be more noisy simply because there's more people running around, and a few of them are spending their brand-new paycheck on having a good time. Then of course there are the teenagers living in little towns where the Walmart is a gathering place and the parking lot is a good place to demonstrate to all your friends how far your car can burn rubber, I just happened to know a little something about this since I lived In a small town before I became a full- timer
