Imagine my shock and amazement when I woke up this morning and found a light skiff of snow covering the Pima County Fairgrounds. it looks like I was justified in bringing my snowshoes with me from Colorado. With Tucson getting snow in April can global warming be far behind?
Another day in paradise... An isolated, stressful, fear ridden paradise, but its the best I've got at the moment.
Since I have a Texas state parks pass I got an email from the Texas government this morning telling me that all the state parks are closing. And in this email it's said, and I quote, "Public safety considerations of those in the parks, and in the surrounding communities, must take precedence over continued operations". And it was the part about "in the surrounding communities" that struck me.
When I was still living in Quartzsite at an LTVA I wrote in my blog guessing what the BLM would do about dealing with all of us RVers in the area and I guessed totally wrong because I wasn't considering what was happening to the people living in the small towns in the area with all of us "outsiders" clogging up the system, but apparently the government was VERY concerned about that. And that might be because the city fathers, and the city mothers in the small towns that are near state parks and other camping areas are pressuring the government to keep outsiders where they belong....OUT!
That's just a guess of course but it might explain why some states close the parks and some don't because it might depend on how much of a ruckus small towns near the parks are raising. But in the end it doesn't matter why their closing it's the fact that they are closing that doesn't bode well for us full timers.
I'm still watching the President and all the experts that are surrounding him give their daily briefing every afternoon because I feel like I get a little bit of good news out of it, and it's kind of fun watching President Trump sparring with the press. But there's two things that group does EVERYDAY that's really getting on my nerves.
The first is the endless, incessant, constantly thanking each other for doing such a great job. It appears to me their just "doing their job" whether it's great or not has yet to be determined. So please just give one big Attaboy to everybody concerned when the event starts, and then get on with some useful information without everyone on the stage having to thank everyone in the country.
And speaking of useful information, that's my second complaint. I couldn't care less that they're going to deliver 15 billion facemasks day after tomorrow, 18 trillion left-handed surgical gloves Friday afternoon and 382 Chinese ventilators on the 4th of July, that information means absolutely nothing to me. If you want to make me feel better by keeping me informed simply tell me how much medical equipment we NEED, and how much we HAVE. I don't care how it's getting here, I don't care where it's stored, I just want to know do we have enough stuff, can we get enough stuff, and if not, why not..... And the names of those specifically responsible for us not having enough stuff would also be useful at a later date.
The light coating of snow turned the whole fairgrounds into a winter wonderland reminiscent more of Christmas than Springtime.
Okay okay, it's not actually snowing, these are just infrared pictures I took of the Fairgrounds this morning, so global warming is not right around the corner. I'm isolated, and I was bored, What can I say?
