Little Jack Horner sat in the corner eating his Christmas pie; he clicked all the pics, that did the trick and said, "what a good boy am I."

1000% agreement with you on the canvas siding.

Yeah Barney, there's some good things about the soft sided pop-up truck campers, better fuel mileage, lighter weight, to name a few. But to me putting the roof up and down every time I want to go someplace is just more trouble than the benefits it offers.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Keep on taking those wonderful pictures and writing those wonderful stories. I love reading them. I have been around the world many times, all in a book.

Yeah, canvas sides are the pits. We had leaks in every one we owned. Wet bedding is NOT fun! Neither was turning the sofa into a bed every night. In my last van I just left it as a bed unless I was expecting company--which was rare--and sometimes even then if they were just coming in to see the van rather than coming to visit awhile.

Not only that, the insulating capabilities of the canvas sides are minuscule. And since heat rises it all immediately goes out through the camper walls. So you can use it for winter camping, I'm doing that right now, but it uses an awful lot of propane to keep the place comfortable.

In the last few days I have had short conversations with about 4 larger truck camper owners while down at the town beach. All of them cautioned that the larger cabover campers can get tall enough to cause concerns with overhead things. One was a Lance and the others I do not recall. Yep always something to worry with when it comes to RVs.

That's a useful thing to point out Barney having an RV that's high enough to run afoul of common obstacles is always something to worry about.
