It got up to 96° today but since the humidity was single digits, and I was used to the mid-80s it wasn't so bad. But knowing higher temperatures were coming I did what I normally do in the summer when I'm living in Denver without any air-conditioning which is......

I put out my awning first thing in the morning which starts shading the entrance door side of the Arctic Fox before the sun has warmed it up. That's a safe thing to do in Denver because the winds there are fairly predictable, but in the desert you have to be very careful with your awning and make sure you get it in at the first sign of a breeze. Usually that breeze will just stay a breeze, but sometimes it's a clue there's a 40 mile an hour wind about two minutes away. Since I seldom if ever sit outside I normally don't put my awning out except for the cooling purpose of shading that side of the Arctic Fox, that way I don't have to worry about it getting blown off.

The Arctic Fox is well insulated, which is one of the reasons I bought it, so even though it's going to be hot I will keep it closed up preserving the nighttime coolness in the Arctic Fox until maybe 11 in the morning or so. Usually by that time the sun will be warming things up pretty good outside, and the Arctic Fox will be warming up inside so I will open the windows, the door, the three vents, and turn on the two Fantastic vent fans. That will get some air moving around in the Arctic Fox and it will be comfortable enough for me the rest of the day.

Now when the temperatures get up into the mid-90s and a little higher, which will happen this weekend, then I will do all of the above and break out my endless breeze floor fan which will be turned on as needed.

Now bear in mind that with six solar panels on top of the Arctic Fox my roof is largely shaded which helps keeping things cool. Also living by myself there's less body heat in the RV. I don't cook things that require the stove to be on a lot, or I will use the microwave.

In the desert it's very hot in the sun, but amazingly cool in the shade, so the inside of the Arctic Fox stays cooler than you might think. When it's hot I remain fairly sedentary in the living room and save my break-dancing practice sessions for cooler weather. But my best weapon against the heat is... I'm used to it.
