For some reason I thought this Christmas Cactus flower looked like a pink Goose flying south for the winter.

Well, I have a definite leaving day now, Wednesday, November 11, which happens to be Veterans Day. I picked that day because I'm hoping the snowstorm will be over, done with, and cleaned up by then.

I want to stop by the local Colorado State Park for the night to dump and wash out my tanks, and all Colorado state parks now require a reservation; you can't just show up and say "here I am" like always, you have to make "plans" and "reservations"... Oh how I dislike those words.

In better days, if the snow didn't get cleaned up in time, or something else delayed my ability to get to the park I could go to the park the next day... But noooo, now I'm contractually required to show up on time or lose my money. That's what I call freedom....NOT!

I've got all the essential stuff done to be ready to leave. There's a lot of cleaning and things like that I could do, but none of it prevents me from getting on the road.

I still don't know where I'm going. I'm leaning towards New Mexico, but it would be pretty darn chilly.  I like the idea of going to southern Arizona first because I can be in warm weather pretty quick. But so far, I haven't made up my mind. I usually prefer a big circle that starts heading towards Arizona in the Fall and ends with New Mexico in the late spring. That seems to work out better in terms of being in good weather most of the time.

But this winter, I'm trying to find interesting things to do, and taking pictures of the Snow Geese and the Sandhill Cranes at the Bosque Del Apache near Socorro, New Mexico sounded interesting to me. But that would mean my big circle would start backward, and the places I would be in early winter might be pretty chilly.

The only thing I know for sure is I want to be in Tucson in January for the rodeo, and the other horse events at the Fairgrounds. Other than that, I'm still looking for interesting things to do this winter.
