Arizona school lands that are scattered all over Arizona, this one is three or four miles South of Wickenburg Arizona. $15 per year boondocking. The school lands are popular places to boondock in Arizona. Since they're not so well-known there usually not crowded, because so few people have heard about them.

I got to my 9 o'clock appointment for an oil change this morning, and in about an hour, I was done and on the road. But I wasn't on the road I thought I was going to be on; I was on the road heading back to my Arizona school lands boondocking site to spend one more night and then head out to Quartzsite, Arizona, in the morning.

There was no particular reason for my change of plans because my plans aren't even real plans, at least not in the sense that most people think of plans. They're more like ideas, options, possibilities, and choices rather than actual "plans." And unlike real plans that are mapped out, check listed, scheduled, anticipated, and expected, my plans are more ethereal. They're written on smoke and only last until I change my mind.

I'm leaning toward spending my Christmas in Lake Havasu. No particular reason; it just sounds like a good place to be at Christmas, other than the best place to be at Christmas, which would be with my family. So I probably won't stay long in Quartzsite; I'll hit a few of the RV flea markets to see if I can find a couple of things for the Lance and then head for Lake Havasu before the Christmas travel rush makes driving more dangerous.

By the time I get to Havasu it's supposed to be warmer than it is now, with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s. Its not exactly toasty warm but that's about 10° better than where I'm at now.

So, you are in a very small hamlet in the Arizona desert.
Village sounds too big for that little gathering. But that's nice.
I have never seen an ocotillo up that close. Kind of scared to get very close to cactuses....cacti spell check wants me to write....but they are lovely in their own way.

And this is about the largest Hamlet that I want to get involved with.

I've got the same problem with my dictation software, like I've said before, I can't type, and there's no way I could do this blog every day hunting and pecking. My dictation software insists I write everything correctly, but I don't talk correctly. I'll say things like kinda instead of kind of, and my dictation software freaks out and tries to prevent me from embarrassing myself.... But it's hopeless.

My latest plan is a couple of weeks in Rockport saying HOWDY to old friends, Then head over to Falcon lake and the free camping for a bit then follow the Rio Grande up into New Mexico until it is time to head back to grandkid land in May. Nothing special and all is territory I have been in before and enjoyed or been born in in 1946. With a little luck my camera will get a major workout.

That sounds like a plan. But since you will be following the Rio Grande you shouldn't get too hung up on water, because a lot of the time you will be following a large trench in the dirt.

It sounds like 1946 was a bad year for having kids since both of us were born that year.

My plan is almost the same every year because I'm so limited to where it's warm in the winter, but can be changed based on personal preferences, or circumstances beyond my control.

After RVing for years I have found eight or ten places, in warm areas, that have something special about them that makes me really enjoy being there, and then I visit those eight or ten places in no particular order, for varying amounts of time depending on what's happening there. All the while keeping my eye on the future weather to see if I need to move and improve my lie.... That's a golfing term I thought you would appreciate.

It's a simple plan and often takes me from the mountains to the desert and sometimes even to the Gulf of Mexico, which offers plenty of picture taken opportunities, and keeps me from digging too deep of a rut.
