I woke up this morning and decided to go somewhere else. So I packed everything up put in the slides hooked the Arctic Fox to the truck and drove about 300 yards to another part of Poverty Gulch.
My new campsite is up on a little hill where I used to camp all the time because there's less bugs flying around up here and I've got a better view. I built a shooting range up here 10 or 15 years ago because I liked camping up here better than where I built my first shooting range down at Soggy Bottoms where I've been camped for the last few weeks. I really like staying here at poverty Gulch and I would have no problem staying here for most of the summer but not having phone service or internet makes it difficult to stay here for any length of time. I pictured myself traveling all over Colorado when I got here but so far that picture has not been possible. All the things that I had to do when I got back to Colorado have taken up a lot of time and made it difficult for me to get too far from the places I need to go to keep myself on the road and legal. Like for instance this week I have an appointment with my accountant in Colorado Springs to help me keep the IRS out of my back pocket. Also traveling around Colorado in the peak of the tourist season is expensive and a little stressful. I'm hoping to get in some traveling and sightseeing this fall when the mountains aren't overly crowded. But I'll have to see how things go, I usually don't make up my mind to do something until the day before because that way I can surprise myself about where I'm going to end up. theboondork
