Instead of thinking about all the things going wrong right now I figured I would take a little time to look at the good things going on in my life, and count my blessings as it were. Since happiness is a state of mind which is largely under our control I have found that thinking about good things makes the bad things a little easier to deal with. So here are six things that's making my life a little better right now.

1---- The first thing that made me feel better is the new medicines that are coming out soon, and especially the hydroxyChloroquine thing that's being used in hospitals right now and by all indications is working great. I've looked at a lot of doctors reporting on the Internet about the hydroxyChloroquine and every one of them is either cautiously optimistic or saying it's a game changer in the fight against Covid.

2----- One of the people that's in President Trump's press conferences every day, and I believe she's a doctor, said that all the information is showing that only a tiny percentage of young children are getting the virus. And I believe she said there is only one known young person dying from the virus. That took more than a little worry off of me about my grandkids, because through this whole ordeal they have been one of my biggest concerns.

3---- I think a lot about living in a smaller RV because there's so many good things about living lighter and smaller but this is one time that I'm really glad I'm in a 30 foot fifth wheel and have a refrigerator big enough to actually stock up on some things. Yes I could self-isolate in something a lot smaller but I think it would be more difficult both mentally and physically, the Arctic Fox gives me room to walk around and that makes my self-isolated life feel more normal.

4---- There's no Covid in the County where I'm at. To be more accurate, there's no KNOWN Covid, but as we all know that can change rapidly but at least for the time being it makes me feel a little better.

5---- So far it doesn't look like the government is going to close the LTVA's where I'm at since they close anyway the middle of April. This takes a big load off my mind knowing I've got a nice place to stay with the basics of life that I need available, and it's a place that I'm familiar with and enjoy living.

6---- And last but not least, since I stocked up on things weeks ago before there were shortages I have plenty of toilet paper.

I found out what's going on with the overflowing dumpsters at the LTVA's. Apparently in the governments infinite wisdom they pre-paid the trash company for getting rid of the trash this season, and since the company was already paid they do as little as possible to keep up with the LTVA's trash. I expect in another week you won't be able to see the dumpsters.

Hi Tom. I was just thinking of that Monty Python movie, except the lyrics were 'Always look on the bright side of death". LOL

Yeah that's definitely a downer, but I was just looking at the good parts of the song, and the Monty Python group has always been a favorite of mine. Although I do have problems sometimes understanding everything there saying because of the heavy British accents they used, and a lot of the British colloquialisms that I'm unfamiliar with. Thank goodness their talent still lives on the Internet.

Amistad NRA just closed down completely this mroning. Walmart went to 50 people shopping in the store at a time this morning.

Wow! That sounds really inconvenient. I wonder how Walmart is going to implement that policy without people lining up outside the door breathing on each other waiting for someone to walk out of the store before someone else can walk in. And is a husband and wife counted as one or two, and how about a family of four will that be four people in the store, if every head is counted as one, they sure won't be able get many families in the store.

I went to the Walmart in Parker this morning and I'll write about it in my blog this afternoon, it was still normal but if one Walmart has implemented that policy others are sure to follow.

These are strange and trying times Barney but it could be worse, we could be living in New York City in a 38 story high-rise apartment building going up and down a tiny elevator filled with coughing people.

I'm about 50 miles or so from the city. We're all scared to death of each other right now. Luckily, I'm able to work from home, but it's really spooky going to the store. Luckily, I'm over 60 so can go to several stores early in special hours for seniors. Went today for the first time in about a week and it's like another world from even a week ago. Don't know what the world will be like after this, but it will be different in some ways up here for sure.

It's good to hear from you again Tim I was wondering how you were doing.

I think everybody that takes this virus seriously is scared to death particularly us old geezers since we obviously have the most to lose.

I went to Walmart recently myself and yes it is weird seeing some empty shelves because most people aren't used to that. But having some experiences with hurricanes in Florida I've seen lots of empty shelves in grocery stores and Home Depot type stores both before, during, and after a hurricane. But at least you know when a hurricanes going to be over and its usually quick enough that it's pretty easy to deal with the stress it brings to your life, but this is different, you don't know what will happen or when so there seems to be no end to the stress and the worry.

But I would recommend staying away from the national news media as much as possible, that alone will make you feel a whole lot better. Just looking back at everything they've said for the last few years, there almost always wrong. But there's medicine in the pipeline that works and I think they're not making it official yet so people don't start demanding it until they have enough pills manufactured to make a difference.

I just try to think about good things to keep my mind off the virus, or go for a walk in the desert because there's nothing like a walk in the desert with the Cholla, the rattlesnakes, and the scorpions to take your mind off a pesky Covid. Now I think I'll go wash my hands so I don't catch a computer virus.

Does it do any good to wash your feet after close encounters with those critters?

Not at all. Anytime you wash the protective crust from your feet you're just asking for trouble. I depend on that protective crust to prevent any critters, including Cactus critters, from being able to penetrate my foot. And by keeping well broken in socks on my feet they add an aromatic barrier that keeps most critters several feet away.

This morning in Walmart I wore my socks on my hands like gloves to see if the aromatic barrier worked in public places, and results were very promising. It was as if the CDC had announced that social distancing was increased to 56 feet because I had no problem with people getting too close to me. I can't make an official announcement as to the efficacy of my aromatic barrier socks just yet but double-blind studies have begun, they're just going real slow because I can't see with both eyes closed.
