If you look carefully you may see a few Snow Geese that got caught up in the moment when thousands of Sandhill Cranes took flight.
Well it looks like new RVs are being moved in for another RV show, they have them here quite often, and it must result in sales or they wouldn't keep driving all these RVs here. The show usually starts on Thursday and runs till Sunday. So I guess I can add RV show to the three or four horse events that will be going on this weekend.
Looking at the long-range weather forecast, it appears that southern New Mexico, which is where I want to be when I leave here, will warm up a little, which at this point will probably have me heading in that direction. It's still too early to tell for sure, but it looks like the weather will be tolerable, but on the chilly side. And frankly I've never been impressed by the winter weather in New Mexico, which is why I spend most of my time in Arizona.
I'm also considering possibly spending a couple of nights in Tombstone, and maybe even a couple of nights at Whitewater Draw again since both of those places are just slightly out of my way on the road to southern New Mexico.
There's a new museum that I noticed while driving through Tombstone, and it's about World War II hero and medal of honor winner Audie Murphy. After the war, when he became a movie star, he bought a ranch in this area, so maybe he has some connection to Tombstone, which is not that far away. And since I was raised when America was steeped in World War II history, I'm still fascinated with the history and the people of those times, including my dad who was in the Army Air Corps at that time.
And as for Whitewater Draw, there may or may not still be some Sandhill Cranes hanging around the lake, if there's any lake left since it was mostly dry when I left this last time. But I kind of miss being there, and it's not much out of my way on the road to New Mexico.
