La Posa, Long-term visitor areas

I'm quite sure clicking the pics has brought me some beautiful clouds to take pictures of.

I walked outside in my pajamas and slippers to get this picture. Fortunately my pajamas are sweat pants and a sweatshirt, and my slippers are moccasins that look like shoes, so I can walk outside anytime I want without scaring anybody. In fact I've seen people in Walmart dressed exactly like this.

Finally, there were enough clouds in the sky to give me a decent sunrise. I was so happy; instead of just sticking my camera out the door, snapping a picture, and going back to bed, I walked out in the desert and took some pictures.

If the weather forecasts are correct, there are supposed to be several more cloudy days ahead, To which I'm really looking forward. Cloudless blue skies get old after a while. The temperatures will remain the same, low 70s in the daytime mid-40s at night, but it's supposed to be partly cloudy for a time. It doesn't look like it will be enough to affect my batteries getting charged since I'm fully charged by just after lunch, and I'm not trying to conserve electricity at all.

I took a drive down to a couple of the LTVA boondocking areas, La Posa North and La Posa South, to see what was going on. Neither one of them looked like what most folks would call crowded, but there were more folks there than I would care to be around, so I'll probably pass on a two-week stay for the holidays. But I took a few pictures while I was there, some of which you will see below.

I filled one of my propane tanks returning from the LTVA's at $2.20 a gallon, which is pretty cheap compared to the $3.85 I was paying in Denver. That 10-gallon tank lasted for five weeks, which is pretty good when you consider how much heating I was doing with it in Denver, and still heating in the mornings here. So I figure it cost me a $20 bill to keep me warm, run my refrigerator, heat my water, and cook my meals, for a month.

​Even though the Bat flu is making a comeback some folks still feel the urge to huddle together at the LTVA's, but this is one time I don't think there's safety in numbers.

​Since a lot of folks spend all winter at the LTVA's some of them feel it necessary to mark their territory. And some go to extraordinary efforts to accomplish that. And this seems like a good example. Some of these rocks are 2 feet tall, and obviously pretty heavy. And not only that, I don't recall seeing any angular white rocks laying around in this desert, their mostly dark and rounded. So these must of been brought in. Looks like way too much work to me. ​I guess he has more time to move rocks around because he doesn't have any windows to wash.

​The new dumpster area at La Posa South. They don't use the regular dumpsters anymore, just these big Haul-A-Way dumpsters. That are so tall they had to build a hill for everyone to walk or drive up on to throw their trash in the dumpster.

​There are some things I'm seeing more of this year. I'm seeing more small trailers that can be towed with an ordinary car. I'm seeing more vans, of every description, from very expensive, to looking unsafe to drive. And I'm seeing more people sleeping in tents and their cars.

This could be because of the Bat flu forcing people out of the big cities, where big city Mayors appear to be making life as miserable as possible for working families, locking them down, while rioters, looters, and bums, are given complete freedom.

Or it might be because of global warming, and Al Gore's prediction that our coastal areas would be underwater in a few years has finally come true and people are leaving  the low-lying areas as the water fills their homes. 

​I sure wouldn't want to be on the Texas Gulf coast right now as the waves wash over Corpus Christi during high tide. Carrying boats and RVs inland halfway to San Antonio... Oh the humanity.
