Laying low

Even during Quartzsite's busiest week they're still plenty of space to boondock alone if you want to.

It got pretty chilly last night, and its only going to be in the low 60s today. It does that in the desert sometimes but it doesn't last long and is supposed to warm up tomorrow.

The roads are very busy again today due to all the "Big Show " people running around going to the different venues so I just laid low and didn't do much except walk around the neighborhood a little bit and take some pictures.

I did some un-decorating work on the little Beta Evo once it started warming up outside this morning. It seems that the style now for most dirt motorcycles like enduros, trials bikes, and motocross bikes, is to plaster them with garish decals in eye-popping colors that looks like something a circus clown would ride but I personally can't stand.  fortunately for me there's an easy solution.

Thank goodness the factory's do this with decals and not with paint, so if you start early enough before the sun bakes them on, they peel off rather easily which is what I was doing this morning. Lucky for me under those hideous decals the motorcycle is mainly black and silver which to me is the kind of dignified, business like, and understated look that I can be perfectly happy with.

Now if the bike was a chopper or some other kind of street custom then garish colors are fine. I myself had a candy purple Harley chopper back in the day, but dirt bikes get beat up pretty quick and fancy colors start looking tacky and worn in no time at all. Once I take off my homemade duct tape and Styrofoam seat and put the factory seat on it I'll take a picture and you can see what I mean.

This picture shows what I I'm talking about when I say if you get a quarter of a mile off the road it's not as crowded and there's plenty of room. My drone is hovering directly above the Arctic Fox and I'm about a quarter of a mile from the interstate and there's less and less RVs the farther you get from the interstate.

Now if you really want to be alone, very very alone then keep driving about 100 yards past where I'm boondocked and you can have all the alone you want.
