The foothills around Quartzsite.

A beautiful day today, mid 60s, not a cloud in the sky and the humidity is a lot lower than it was so now it feels warm.

I figured I will leave for Lake Havasu tomorrow morning, so today I moved up to the boondocking area on Plomosa Road to be a little closer to Parker and Lake Havasu.

Normally I would spend a night or two boondocking in Parker at the Bluewater casino, but I won't be doing that any more since they now charge $27 to boondock in their parking lot. There's more boondocking out on Shea Road, but the last time I was out there the road was in such bad shape I decided that doing that to my truck was not a good idea if I want my truck to last. And several years ago they stopped allowing overnight parking behind the Parker McDonald's, and I'm not really sure about the Parker Walmart,  but I've been told there's no overnighting their. So I can't think of any place I can boondock in Parker anymore... It's a shame, but nothing good lasts for long.

Fortunately there's plenty of boondocking in Lake Havasu, both BLM and school trust lands. There's three places I like to visit when I'm in Havasu, at the south end of town there's a giant park called Sara Park, and there's BLM boondocking land right across the highway. The park has all kinds of things to see and do, like hiking, rodeo arena, RC airplane flying field, motocross course, and other fun stuff, and like I say, I'm boondocking right across the highway.

Then if you keep driving up the highway you'll come to downtown Havasu, and the London Bridge which is the biggest tourist attraction in town, and a great place to take a picture or two.

Keep going up the same highway, and on the other side of town is a huge new Walmart, where I tend to do most of my shopping when I'm in Havasu. And up the same highway, a couple miles is more BLM boondocking where I've enjoyed staying before.

So the point is; Quartzite is a great place to boondock, but there's not a whole lot to do other than visiting the flea markets. But Lake Havasu, has a lot of things to do, and great boondocking; which makes it one of my favorite places.

Quite often the folks boondocking at the foot of the hills are off-road vehicle kind of folks, and love riding their ATVs around.
