Looking into the future

My grandson had two birthday parties, and now they're finally over, and life can get back to normal for a while. You may notice there are no pictures of the festivities, and that's because the old boondork felt it better to stay away from strangers and self isolate in the Arctic Fox for my and their safety. And even though the county I'm in has almost no problems with the Bat flu anymore, the kids around here are back in school now. And what few issues we are having is with old folks, so I figured I would stay semi-isolated and not take any chances.

Since I've been giving some thought to taking a mini-vacation and going to southern Colorado and the San Luis Valley to take pictures of the migrating Cranes. Researching the possibilities caused me to look up what would be going on with the Cranes about that same time down in New Mexico at the world-famous birdwatching area named Bosque Del Apache that's just south of Socorro. And it looks like they stopover at the Bosque during their migration, and that might be an excellent place to take some pictures of the birds and other critters.

Now the Bosque Del Apache is 550 miles from Denver, which is a pretty long drive for me considering how few miles I drive during the day. But I got to thinking if I stayed a couple days in the San Luis Valley, which is almost halfway, then it would only be about another day drive to the Bosque.

And since I would be taking the little Bronco camper instead of the Arctic Fox, it would be a more leisurely, less stressful drive, which would make a two week 1100 mile round-trip more of a possibility.

On the other hand, I could just take a one-week mini-vacation to the San Luis Valley in late October and then wait till I leave Colorado after Thanksgiving to go to the Bosque Del Apache since the birds will still be there at that time, and I will probably be driving I-25 South anyway.

I'm not sure what I will do yet, but it does give me something to think about, and sitting in my easy chair and thinking is my specialty.
