I know I promised more pictures of my walk yesterday around Roxborough Park, but we went to Lucille's Cajun restaurant this morning so all my pictures ended up of that. But I've still got pictures of Roxborough Park to show when I get a chance.

I finally made it to Lucille's Cajun restaurant for breakfast this morning, and needless to say, it was delicious as usual. There have been many changes at Lucille's because of the Bat flu problems and them being closed for a while.

It looked like their menu only had about half their regular items available, but all the things I like were still there. Of course, there weren't as many people working as before, but from what I understand, restaurants have trouble hiring people since their employees can make more money collecting unemployment than working nowadays. And the size of the dining room looked smaller, so I guess they're still recovering from the Bat flu shut down.

I feel sorry for folks in the restaurant business; the Bat flu closures have really hurt them. Unfortunately, profit margins in a restaurant aren't all that great, and overhead is high because of all the employees, so it doesn't take much to push a restaurant into a sea of red ink on the bottom line. And even in regular times, restaurants are the businesses most likely to fail.

Other folks, I feel sorry for are mom-and-pop landlords. I tried doing rental properties myself for a while, and it was the absolute worst business I've ever tried. And now, due to the Bat flu, renters are protected and don't have to pay their monthly rent, and banks are threatening foreclosure on the landlords because the landlords don't have the money to make the payments with the renters living for free. I'm sure that's not everywhere or in every situation, but in some cases, landlords are losing the property they've spent their life savings on. At the same time, the local government refuses to evict renters for nonpayment. It's a bad situation, and I'm really glad I'm not involved in any of that stuff anymore.

Finally, what I've been waiting for all this time. Biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, and red beans mixed with pulled pork. A macho manly breakfast if there ever was one. Even the Raging Cajun himself would declare this fittin to eat.
