Merry Christmas everyone

Roses are red, violets are blue, clicking the pics, brings a Merry Christmas to you.

The pictures in today's blog have a theme, see if you can guess what it is.

Well, Christmas is almost over, and I had a very happy one because today was just like every other day for me, and I'm very happy every day.

I do miss my family because Christmas is best spent with friends and family. But in this time of pandemics, I guess we're better off staying separated for the winter.

I feasted on a traditional Christmas dinner today with a freshly cooked rotisserie chicken straight from the grocery store. Some baked beans from a can opened by me just for this special occasion. And to drink, no less than the finest Mexican beer sold in Ajo. It's named "Buena Suerte Gringo," which I was told means "The Beer of Kings. "

After a repast of that magnitude, it has not only increased my Christmas joy but also my girth, so I will be required to sit in my easy chair and relax for quite some time, possibly till well after New Year's.

Santa's reindeer are lined up outside the old train station in the Plaza. Maybe he's arriving by train instead of sleigh.

Someone had enough Christmas spirit to decorate some desert Creosote Bushes.

I thought this was a unique way of decorating your Agave plant for Christmas.

But I soon figured out everybody in town does it. These folks went the extra mile and put some Santa hats on their little Barrel Cactus.

These folks just scattered some colorful balls around the yard.

If you guessed the theme for the pictures in today's blog was Christmas...... WRONG!

The theme is... there's no snow on the ground here because it's 70°

No snow in Rockport Texas at 65F and bright sunshine either. Have fun in the sun Tom.

I always have fun in the desert Barney, vitamin "D" falls from the sky on a daily basis. Hope you had a great Christmas and Santa left you a new lure or something else useful.

And a Merry Christmas to you! Glad to hear you ate well! And, we hope, drank well. I do love Buena Suert\e Gringo. The more I see of Ajo the more I like it. I am a very small town girl, or actually gezerette. I've delayed looking at the summer temperatures, not being a rambler able to escape them, but suspect it might be somehting like 120 off and on. Well, I'll get my nerve up and look it up. my other alternate from the SW desert is Vermont. You have to admit, it gives a person something to think abut. I've done the New England winter, but not the Arizona summer.

Merry Christmas to you too Judith. Actually I haven't looked at the summer temperatures here either since I have no intention of hanging around that long. But I have spent a few days in Quartzsite Arizona during July and can attest that it's incredibly hot. And since the desert cools off considerably at night even during the summer, when I was boondocked in the desert I could lay in bed at night and hear the rocks cracking. Because the rocks get so hot in the daytime and the night cools off so quickly the rocks would break.

But people do live here in Ajo during the summer its just a matter of getting used to it and adjusting your life for extreme heat. I've had to live in places with extreme weather such as Miami Florida in the summer with 98° temperatures and 100% humidity, and moving from there to the Colorado mountains where winters are well below zero and the snow is deep, and I managed to live and work in both of those environments, and my jobs were mostly outdoors. I doubt if I could do that again, nor would I want to try.

And that's the reason I live the way I do, I can't change the weather but I can sure as heck change my location. I know rich folks like to have a couple of homes in different places so they can avoid bad weather. But for me I enjoy being able to move, and wouldn't want to be tied down to a home in Colorado, and a home in Phoenix. I much prefer the RV lifestyle of being where I want to be until I want to be somewhere else.

Always remember, being a geezer or a geezerette is a badge of honor, it shows you have survived all life has thrown at you, from small problems in elementary school, to a global pandemic. You have weathered storms both big and small, and made more friends than enemies. So be proud to be a geezerette, March into that McDonald's with your head held high, look the cashier in the eye and in a firm unwavering voice say.... I'm a geezerette and I demand my free cup of coffee.

When I was about 12 years old we visited family in Tucson from our home in Illinois. We couldn't understand why the kids didn't want to go outside to play. We did go swimming, though. Worst sunburn I've ever had in my life! I have a brother living in Phoenix; I only visit him in the winter.

In my personal opinion Arizona is a great place to be in the wintertime, but is barely tolerable in the summer. my daughter used to live in Phoenix so I've been there during the summer and I only survived it because my truck was air-conditioned, her house was air-conditioned, and all the stores were air-conditioned, so if you can survive a 100 foot walk from your vehicle to the store you'll be fine.

I think very few Phoenix dwelling relatives get visited during the summer.

Being fair-skinned, and raised in Miami Florida I have had epic sunburns. And enough of them to know that no matter how bad your back hurts don't give the slightest indication that your sunburned to the other kids at school.

I didn't know I could get free coffee at McDonalds. Now I do. THERE is something to look forward to. Or at least asking for it.
Doesn't matter much to me how it tastes, I'm not a coffee connoisseur. (Thank goodness for spellcheck on that last word.)

That's why I try to avoid any words in French when I'm writing, I can't even get close enough for spellcheck to figure out what I was trying to say.
