I consider clicking the pics all the exercise I need, especially since it allows me to exercise and relax at the same time. Tombstone tourist traps.

So I was wondering why diesel prices were higher than what I use in my car...I'd always thought them cheaper. And I looked it up. And they were cheaper until 2004 (except for surges in the winter for heating), when overseas demand (China), plus requirements for lower sulfur, plus a 6 cent tax per gallon, all kicked into play. So. Hm. So for what it's worth.....Meanwhile, I am glad you can walk to town. Hope the dance hall girls haven't all gone home.

Judith, you seem to have a thirst for knowledge, always looking things up and keeping folks like me on our toes so we can't just make stuff up. Unfortunately, that means I no longer have anything left to write about.

Yep when the USA went on the ULSD standard it not only increased production costs but it could be imported into Europe. When pulling a large trailer I would still prefer Diesel due to the torque and fuel economy issues. It would be interesting the mpg one would get with a gas engine and light cab over camper. Of course one would have to factor in the cost of a new truck. IMHO fuel prices will likely stay up for at least the next three years. Diesel here in Tx is at least a buck more that gas. Just a few months ago it was about 50 cents less. Go figure??? Our early summer travel plans are up in the air. Look at an average of almost $6.00 a gallon through out the west at current prices. All plans are in jello and I'm planning a shorter alternative. Life moves on.....................................

Yes I much prefer pulling my 13,000 pounds, loaded, Arctic Fox up and down the mountains of Colorado with my Duramax diesel than anything else I can think of. But if diesel reaches a point where I can't afford to fill my tank, then the point would become moot.

How many miles has your diesel got on it now? Mine had 300,000 when needed more worn out drive train repairing than the the truck was worth. And since I no longer needed the power of the diesel I swapped down to a used gas truck with 14k miles on it. Now it has 117xxx miles.

My 2008 Duramax has 196,000 miles on it right now. Before I went full-time I would put between 20 and 30,000 miles a year on my trucks, but since going full-time I'm averaging 5 to 7000 miles a year. I just don't do a lot of long-distance driving like I used to.
