As I mentioned yesterday, there's not much we RVers can do to change the dynamic of too many of us for the number of commercial campground sites available. We may be in the driver's seat when it comes to traveling around in our RVs, but right now, and for the foreseeable future, the commercial RV parks are probably going to be in the driver's seat when it comes to the cost and availability of the campsites that we need.

Since I have never liked having someone else in control of my life, nor do I like negotiating the price of something when I'm in a weak negotiating position. And seeing as how there's nothing I can do to change the current dynamic between the privately-owned campgrounds and we RVers that need a place to stay. I'm left with very few options.

I could park the Arctic Fox in a permanent spot and sit there year after year staring at the same tree until I keel over from old age or terminal boredom... I can't see myself doing this because, after a few years, I would get tired of taking pictures of that tree.

I might hit the lottery and get so much money that I could buy the local RV Park wherever I happen to be and stay as long as I wanted... It would require me to purchase lots of lottery tickets for that to work, And if I had that much money, I could pay to stay at the RV Park.

I could become a Snowbird and park the Arctic Fox in Denver, and the little Bronco slide in camper somewhere in southern Arizona and drive to whichever one had the best weather... That was supposed to be another stupid but humorous suggestion, but actually, it's not as dumb as I thought after seeing it written down.

But the most logical option for me is to become the best, most knowledgeable, highly-skilled, boondocker that I can be... But since that's not going to happen, I'll probably just stay the way I am. Coming and going as I please, trying to find nice places to boondock, but often ending up in a Walmart parking lot. Paying for places to camp sometimes, other times boondocking under the shade of a Saguaro. Jump in the deep end and depend on luck rather than knowledge or skill to find a place to hang my hat for the night. That option has worked for the last six years, and with any luck, will last a while longer.

American Legion Hall in Silverton. Back in the day there were dozens and dozens of clubs you could join, such as the Moose, the Elks....I was an Elk for a while when I was in business. The Odd Fellows... I don't think I would want to join that one, Woodmen of the world... I see tombstones for those guys everywhere I go, the VFW... I would like to join that one but I've never gotten around to it. And many,, many others. In most cities back in the day, if you were somebody, or wanted to be somebody, you joined a fraternal club.
