My cunning new plan part deux

Halloween is a good time for pic clicking.

The Fall leaves in my daughter's neighborhood are going, or they're gone.

It has taken a while but I finally finished my rather lengthy blog posts about my seventh anniversary of being a full-timer. Now I can circle back to where I once was when writing about how I have a cunning plan to solve my problem of having too many heavy tools to carry around in the Lance all the time.

So what is this cunning plan I have developed that may help solve one of my biggest problems dealing with an RV as small as the Lance and a truck that is not designed to carry such a heavy load, especially all the heavy tools I need to customize the Lance to my liking and be able to repair problems down the road?

Like any good plan, it has to be simple, and for me, it has to be easy, requiring very little effort on my part, with lots of built-in procrastination, for when my ambition is scraping rock bottom.

So here it is... I carry only the tools I need to do emergency repairs to the camper or truck while on the road. And I leave all of my other tools and DIY gadgetry in my daughter's garage so I can make my customizations, changes, and DIY projects when I'm living in my daughter's driveway during the summer. The tools I want to leave their take up very little room, it's actually only a couple of toolboxes, but their weight is what causes problems in the Lance.

 The garage available at my daughter's house  has a vice on the workbench. Oh, how I miss the big vice I had at home. There's a stepladder I can use, which, when paired with my 10-foot telescoping ladder, allows me to get to any place on the Lance. And maybe the most important thing is, I have help here if needed.

Now for this plan to work, as I mentioned before, I've got to overcome a few hurdles. And one problem is I enjoy doing DIY projects while I'm traveling! I know that may sound weird, but I think it started because I did most of my traveling in the winter to escape those frigid Colorado months. And my Colorado summers were busy enough that I didn't have much time to make changes to whatever RV I had, so I postponed any changes I wanted to make to my RV until I headed South to warmer weather. So to this day, I still look forward to customizing the Lance while I'm traveling.

But I'll get over it. Keeping as much weight as possible out of the Lance camper and off the truck is job number one right now, so I'm not going to worry about not having fun DIY projects as I travel. And that's all part of learning to be happy. You do the best you can, and if that's not enough, you find some happiness in whatever you're doing.

Even the tree with the brilliant red leaves is all but finished.

After enjoying all the beautiful colored leaves in the neighborhood I get to take a picture and then walk on by... While folks like this get to spent a lot of time raking leaves, and cleaning up the mess.

Even near the foothills the leaves are almost gone.

So long Halloween 2022, it's almost gone, and so am I.
