Today was a, taking all day to do an hours worth of work so I can head West in the morning, kind of day. As it turned out I got a late start in my travel preparations because it was so cold I didn't want to go outside....and I'm basically lazy.
It got down to 25° last night which is hard to believe as far south as I am, so I had to run the furnace all night to keep my pipes from freezing, as I've mentioned before I set my thermostat for 55° and that's always been warm enough to keep my basement and the pipes there in from freezing.
I filled up with diesel fuel, hitched up the Arctic Fox, and put away all the stuff sitting on the counters so I'll be ready to roll in the morning after bringing the living room slide in. Ordinarily I would dump my tanks before leaving here, but they're nowhere near full, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be boondocking at the escapees RV Park in Benson Arizona so I'll just wait and dump when I leave there.
When I don't know where I'm going to be staying when I leave someplace, which is most of the time, I dump my tanks at every opportunity no matter how little there may be in them because I never know when I'll get another chance. But when I'm familiar with the places I'm heading to and I know there's a dump station available I don't mind letting my tanks fill up.
Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll be in Benson Arizona, and with any luck it won't be as cold as it is in Deming. I sure hope this winter is not like last winter when it was cold and wet too much of the time, only time will tell, but so far the weather hasn't been very encouraging.
The clouds rolled over the mountains enveloping everything in their path.
The old Deming New Mexico train station. It's now a visitor's center.
