Today was warm, sunny, and the wind was blowing like crazy. It actually made it uncomfortable to be outside, but at least I'm not shoveling snow I went to Walmart today and bought a few groceries and a 15 foot long HDMI cable. An HDMI cable carries high definition video and audio signals from one electronic gadget to another, and I would like to play videos on my laptop and watch them on my TV screen and that's just the sort of thing that an HDMI cable is designed to do. I have a 6 foot HDMI cable but that meant it would only reach my laptop if it was sitting on the floor in front of the TV which made controlling the movie kind of difficult. But with the long cable I can now leave my laptop where it belongs in front of my easy chair which is far more convenient. And by playing movies on the television I not only get to watch them on a bigger screen but I get to hear the sound on the Arctic Fox's speakers instead of the tiny ones in the laptop. The downside is the cable will stretch across the living room floor in a way that's very convenient to trip over. Not that I would ever trip over a tangled black cord laying on the floor in a dark room, but if I ever had a visitor they might not be as agile and graceful as I am. Since my desktop computer uses so many amps, usually between 14 and 20 depending on whether it's idling or rendering a video, I found that I don't use it very much in less I'm plugged into shore power. But I have found it useful to use the 6 foot HDMI cable to plug my laptop into one of the desktops monitors which gives me two screens to screw up on. theboondork |
