Clicking a pic just takes a sec. Three flowers in the sunset.
Close-up of a Hibiscus ...... or a Watermelon. A smoky sunset in the neighborhood.

Some interesting humor & reflection in the lyrics and your recent posts brutha - I was 10 months into my first tour in Nam and preparing for an Australian R & R during Woodstock week in August 69 - Lol, I never thought about having a personal anthem....maybe its time - Anyway, flowers/ watermelon, many parts are edible.

I figured I wasn't the only one that missed a lot of good times in those days. A lot of folks coming out of Vietnam for R&R stopped at Yokota first. Australia was a very popular R&R area. I never really understood why because at the time I think the males outnumbered the females ten to one which didn't sound like very good odds to me.

I thought John Gorka’s music was contempory, so now I’m feeling old. Italian girls is my favorite song of his, but it can’t be my anthem if i want to stay married.

I'm not a big fan of folk music but my sister was and she knew Gorka back in the late 80s early 90s when he was just starting out and she got me interested in his music.

I personally believe that is a watermelon flower. That's what I want to think and I am sticking to it. As for music, I don't know if you like to read, but there's a good book called "Mystery Train" about rock and roll, and thanks to a friend, I am reading it at present. It was written in '74 or so, and has been so requested, it has had many re-printings. I will have to give some thought to my personal anthem.

Then a Watermelon flower it is. I used to read but then I discovered YouTube and it changed my world. Now I've decided that I can't stop watching YouTube until I've seen every single cute cat doing silly things video.

I'm older than you are. Still, while reading this book, I've had to stop and go to YouTube to listen to a song or two. Best of both worlds, books and music.

I remember a time early in my life when I could get lost in a book and hate to see it end. There was also a time when music stirred my soul and I felt it spoke to me.

Tom said " I think that taught me a valuable lesson about enjoying the here and now. Because if all you do is think about the future your going to miss all the life experiences you're living at the moment. Which is why I try to enjoy every day of my full-timing life even if I have to self isolate and wear a mask like a bandit."
