Orchids

Sometimes I take a break from relaxing in my easy chair and get outside on a crisp Fall morning and walk around enjoying the changing of the leaves, the cool weather, and just being alive... But this wasn't that morning. I figured it was so beautiful outside, and the weather was so perfect it might be too crowded outside, so I stayed in my easy chair.

It's not like sitting in my easy chair is a waste of time, well maybe just a little. I do a lot of high-level thinking when I'm sitting in my easy chair with a cup of coffee. I know some folks can think while they're walking, and some folks can even think while they're running, but those people often end up in a YouTube video running into a telephone pole.

Speaking of telephone poles, how come there are only nine people in the entire country that have an old-fashioned telephone that uses a wire, and yet we still have the same number of telephone poles we've always had?

And speaking of cell phones... I know I wasn't actually speaking of cell phones, but the reference to telephone poles "implies" cell phones in a roundabout, upside down kind of way. When I first heard about cell phones, I was him thinking to myself what a stupid business that would be. After all, only a handful of people in the entire country need to carry a phone around all the time. It will be great for doctors, and I'm sure the President will have one, but other than that, who needs to carry a telephone around with them?

And since I brought up stupid businesses. I can remember reading a newspaper article, [ and that statement right there should tell you how long ago this happened ] that Sears and Roebuck, that's what they were called back then, was the largest property owner in America, because they had a big store in just about every medium-sized town in the country. And I thought, how can any other business compete with that? They will be around forever. This shows why I was barely able to eke out a living in business, and Walmart rules the world.

Those aren't the only poor predictions I've made. I also said the "Hula Hoop" was a dumb idea, and at a very early age I wondered, what kid in the 1950s would want to walk around with a dead raccoon on his head? But despite my abysmal track record of predicting anything at all, I'm still making predictions that there will be way too many RVs on the road this winter, and finding places to stay will be more difficult, and more expensive.

  That prediction should have me concerned about my winter travels, except all my predictions have been wrong before, so why should I worry about this latest one?

Some kind of leafy things floating on the water. They could be lily pads, they could be Lotus pads, or they could be dead leaves for all I know.
