Last nights sunset at the old rodeo grounds Ajo Arizona.

Another beautiful warm day in the desert. The high for today was supposed to be in the high 60s but by lunchtime I was in a T-shirt and opening up the windows on the camper to cool things off.

I went into Ajo this morning, and topped up my fuel tank, at a dollar more per gallon than I was paying in the Tucson area. And bought 5 gallons of water at one of those 25 cent a gallon water kiosks next to the grocery store, and then wandered through the grocery store suffering from "shock and awe" at the food prices.

Like I've said before, it's really sad that folks that don't have much money end up living in a place where it's so expensive you live your life always poor. I'm not sure where the closest Walmart is to Ajo but it might be 50 or 60 miles at least, so the one grocery store in town can charge almost seven dollars for a dozen eggs, and the Campbell Soup that I normally buy is a little over a dollar more a can than Walmart sells it for, and a couple of other things I was going to buy I just passed up because they were so expensive.

I walked out of the store with only three or four items. So I would say if you come to Ajo for a week or two, enjoy the peace and quiet, appreciate the solitude, and take a few pictures of the natural beauty. But fill up your gas tank in Gila Bend, and bring all your groceries from Walmart.

I was hoping to get some pictures of the Air Force A-10 Warthogs flying over the old rodeo grounds but so far the only thing that's flying over is the F-35's that the Marines use and are stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma. But the F-35s fly over me at an altitude so high I can't even see them much less take a picture.

I do hear them, and I can see their contrails as they play around in the sky, but I've yet to see a single plane. Hopefully one day the Warthogs will come out and play because they fly low and slow in their tank busting missions which gives me much better opportunities for pictures.

I can appreciate a parent's desire to keep their kids safe and when riding a horse you are very vulnerable to head injuries, I know the helmet just doesn't fit the cowboy theme, but a kids safety is far more important than a theme.

Trying to cover both bases you end up with this...a cowboy safety helmet.

Someone's looking very relaxed, while doing something that's not very relaxing. And I know that because I'm an expert at relaxing.
