I left Deming New Mexico at the crack of dawn this morning and and drove the 145 miles to Oliver Lee state Park near Alamogordo arriving at 9:30. I'm glad I got here early because there wasn't a whole lot of sites empty especially ones big enough for the Arctic Fox.
The Park is real pretty, its right at the foot of the mountains so you get nice mountain views, and if you look the other way you get views of the plains. So far I like it here and will probably stay here at least a week. Like all New Mexico parks they have a two-week limit, and my experience has been that the two-week limit is highly dependent upon the head Rangers attitude, and the head Rangers attitude is highly dependent upon YOUR attitude.
