A lot of the time the boys sat on the sofa playing video games. I think video games were invented for a day like this.
And the girls mostly played with their dolls.
I blurted out the faces of the visiting friends, figuring that showing some body else's kids faces on the Internet might not be a great idea.
A seriously cloudy rainy day today. All activities were put on hold by 11 AM due to rain. And my solar panels were inactive for about 95% of the day.
This was made worse by today being a play-date with a couple of the grandkid's friends coming over for the day and having no possibility of going outside due to the weather; everyone was forced to stay indoors and entertain themselves as best they could. And with my daughter and son-in-law working, I was called upon to help with security and crisis management.
So I spent way too much of the day babysitting a passel of screaming kids running around the living room beating on each other with light-sabers, plastic swords, and any other improvised weapon they could come up with to create as much noise and havoc as possible.
But it was all over by 4 o'clock, and I was able to retreat to the peace and quiet of the Lance and better appreciate the kind of life I'm living now without having to deal with barking dogs and screaming kids. And wonder how in the world did I ever manage to do it for eighteen years the first time.
