there's basically three kinds of camping at New Mexico parks. Hook up, developed, and primitive. Hook up and developed sites both have covered picnic Tables. Primitive camping is just out in the open. If you have the state Park annual pass you can stay at the developed or the primitive sites for free. this picture is of developed sites by the lake

Glad to do it John. For me New Mexico state parks are great places to be during the spring and the fall. It's a little too hot here in the summer, and a little too cold in the winter. But the tween seasons are just about right.
