Preparations

I'm making preparations for the 4th of July. Preparations "A" through "G" are complete, all that's left is preparation "H" ...... don't forget to click the pics.

Another quiet day today; I think there's not much going on around me because folks are saving their time, money, and energy for the 4th of July holiday next weekend. I'm doing something similar myself in preparation for the 4th. I'm stocking up on food and water just in case there's a shortage and putting sandbags around the perimeter of the Arctic Fox to increase its ability to withstand whatever comes my way.

My current location is only 2 or 3 miles from a major Colorado state park. Sometimes, the celebratory nature of the folks at the park can spill over into surrounding neighborhoods, so I have to be prepared for any eventuality.

My biggest problem will more than likely be the noise and inherent danger of fireworks debris raining down on my location. This neighborhood in the past has shown itself to be very patriotic, which often manifests itself in a plethora of fireworks being launched into the sky not only by celebrating neighbors but the State Park itself, which has a large fireworks display on the fourth.

And the neighbors here are not satisfied with your typical "legal" fireworks. The folks around here have no problem driving the 80 or so miles up to the Wyoming state line where there's Indian land on which they're allowed to sell "real" fireworks like back in the good old days when I was growing up.

 It's evident that since it's a national holiday, I can't run from it;  there's simply no way to get away from the festivities, which means my only choices are to hunker down and hide under the kitchen table, or go out and join the holiday revelers. I'm not totally sure which one I'm going to do yet, but at least I've got plenty of time to relax and think about it.
