Quartzsite boondocking

Just a teeny tiny part of Scaddan Wash where I'm boondocking

It's been pretty windy today but I went driving around a little anyway and took a few pictures.

I didn't go very far because everybody's going to the big tent at the "Big Show" this morning so all the roads are really busy. Even if I was going to the big tent this year, which I'm definitely not, I would wait till midweek before I would even try to get in there, it will be so crowded that you can't hardly see anything anyway so what's the point. I think some people just like to be part of the crowd.

Yesterday I got energetic and cut an inch off both ends of the little Beta's handlebars. Handlebars often come from the factory too wide so you can trim them to the length you want, I'm not generally picky about handlebar width but these felt exceptionally wide and shortening them by one inch on each side made them feel more natural to me.

I've heard the government is shut down today, I can't tell the difference. I've still got a roof over my head, food in the refrigerator, and a free place to boondock, my requirements are few.

Oddly enough a Department of Interior Ranger drove by the Arctic Fox this morning and waved as he cruised on down the trail. Maybe he didn't know the government was nonfunctional.... Or maybe he's just used to it.
