I went to Walmart this afternoon to pick up a few things and filled up the truck with fuel on the way back. Since I'll probably be leaving on Tuesday I always like to hit the road with a full tank, whether I need it or not.
The only decision I've made so far as to where I'm going is I'm planning on going to the Socorro New Mexico Walmart for the night, which is a whopping 75 miles up I-25 from here From that point I can go East, West, or North, depending on how I feel when I wake up the next morning.
Most of the weekenders have left the Park already. They strangle into the park over the course of a couple of days but they all leave on Sunday, which puts a lot of traffic on the roads in and around the park. So I generally stay hunkered down until they're gone.
Contrary to what the weatherman said today was a pretty nice day. It got a little cloudy and breezy in the afternoon but nothing to write home about. So all in all the weekend which was supposed to be a rainy write off according to the weather guessers turned out to be very nice with nary a drop of rain to be seen.
While I was at Walmart I looked into their selection of ice chests, because I don't own an ice chest anymore. But if I take some little mini vacations and go tent camping I will obviously need one. When I owned a house I had all kinds of camping gear that I had accumulated over the years so laying my hands on a sleeping bag, a tent, or an ice chest was no problem at all, but all that stuff was given away or sold because I could see no reason why a full timer living in a trailer would need camping gear.... Little did I know.
Now here I am in need of camping gear and I think the only camping gear that I own at the moment is a box of matches. I don't mind buying the stuff that I need because I have someplace I can store it when I'm not using it, but I hate to spend a bunch of money on things that I'm not going to get much use out of. So maybe I need to expand on the concept of mini vacations and make them a part of my life, hmmmm, that does give me something to think about.
Folks getting ready to leave on Sunday as the clouds roll in. And the clouds kept on rolling without a single drop of rain
