Random thoughts on truck campers

I think this plant has the measles.

Another cool, slightly cloudy day, but this will be the last one since the next nine days look like they will be in the low to mid-90s.

I've been studying slide in truck campers and found out that the truck manufacturers changed the shape of their truck beds sometime around the late 80s early 90s so most of the older slide in truck campers won't fit the newer model trucks. And since my truck is a 2008, it looks like the old truck campers from about that time won't fit. So I guess that leaves them out of being something I can use. The little Bronco is, I believe, a 2005 model, and it fits okay, so I think that I probably shouldn't be looking at anything earlier than that.

One of the problems I'm facing is the truck campers that call themselves four-season models and have good insulation, such as the Bigfoot, and the Northern Lite, have a couple of things in common, they are for the most part, too heavy for a three-quarter-ton truck like mine, and they're very expensive even when they're used.

 The truck campers that are fairly inexpensive, both new and used, often have many complaints from the owners for shoddy workmanship, and poor insulation. Some of the things I like about my Arctic Fox are it's strong, well put together, and has great insulation. Unfortunately, the inexpensive truck campers appear to have very few of those qualities, possibly because the manufacturers don't intend for anyone to live in their inexpensive truck campers, and the truck campers built for full-timers tend to require a 1-ton truck to haul their massive bulk around.

So it looks like I need to find something in the middle, so it's affordable, will hold together for ever how many years of traveling I have left, and doesn't weigh more than my truck can tote. Is that too much to hope for? I don't know; it may come down to how many traveling years I have left in me.

The grandkids are running around the living room shooting each other with Nerf guns.

I wish they had Nerf guns when I was a kid. All we could do was point a cap pistol and say bang you're dead, and the other kid would say no I'm not.... You missed. Nerf guns solve that problem.
