The weather for the Easter holiday this weekend looks like it's going to be very nice, mid-80s in the daytime mid-50s at night and partly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday with no chance of rain.
The reason I mention that is because if history is any indication, people should start trickling into the Park Thursday afternoon, and by Friday afternoon be a full-fledged people tsunami. And that good weather forecast for the weekend probably means everybody within 50 miles of Elephant Butte State Park will probably be here.
Fortunately for me I'm buttoned up and hunkered down with a full refrigerator, a full tank of fuel, if I have to make a run for it, and earplugs at the ready when 200 contractor generators and 300 boom boom stereo systems all start up on Friday afternoon.
The good news is by Sunday afternoon they will all be gone, and I will still be here enjoying the peace, the quiet, and my view of the lake from high atop the ridge overlooking the beach.
