There is nothing wrong with your approach. It seems that things are working, the truck isn't straining and is safe as far as stopping. If the tires are holding up well and are inflated to the proper pressure keep on trucking. If you notice changes then investigate further.

Yes some garages or pretty small, but I have found that most places that repair diesels have fairly large garages to put trucks in. But not all of them do, and when you're broken down you can't be choosy.

Weigh the rig! You might find the jacks are not a problem at all! Wouldn't that be worth making the effort to weigh the rig? Stress relief in any form is always good.

Of course, you're right on all counts, Linda; it's amazing the lengths I will go to to get some stress out of my life but then worry for over a year about the camper being overweight when all it takes is about 10 bucks, and very little effort on my part, to check the weight.
