This is what passes for the family dog. A fully grown 5 pounds of tooth and claw. When leashed up and going for a walk he looks like a rat on a string.
Another hot day today and I'm starting to get tired of hot days, come January you can remind me I said that, but it seems to me it should be cooling off by now.
When it's this hot I get a burning desire, with the emphasis on burning, to head up into the high country and cool off for a few days. It's a real temptation because I can look to the west and clearly see the mountains I would like to be in but I'm somewhat stuck waiting for my taxes to be completed before I can make any major moves.
I've been thinking maybe I could sneak up to Rocky Mountain National Park for a few days to cool off and take a few pictures without being missed or shirking any important duties. I'm thinking RMNP shouldn't be crowded right now with most of the tourists gone, and the leaves haven't started to change yet so the leaf peepers should still be home waiting for the magic day when all the leaves have changed.
If I did that it would probably be next week when nothing should be going on. And if I do it on the weekdays that should further enhance my chances of avoiding any weekend type crowds.
The more I write about it the better it sounds. Maybe I need another mini-vacation, especially one that's close by, doesn't require much driving, and requires wearing a long sleeve shirt in the morning, yeah that's just what I need.
