Serendipity strikes again

This is what a small part of the BLM boondocking area looks like, there's plenty of room for a lot of RVs out here.

Today I started thinking about how I need to get away from civilization for a while and do some real boondocking. I've been around too many people and too many hookups for too long so I've got the desire to unhook, unplug and get out in the desert for a little while and I started feeling like moving next door wasn't going to give me what I'm looking for.

I looked on the Internet for some BLM boondocking around here and found some near Lake Pleasant about 10 miles from here and some a little farther down the road from Lake Pleasant which looked kind of interesting to me.

It's called the Boulders Staging OHV area and since I need to do a little motorcycle riding that sounded like a good place to be. It's about 15 miles from where I'm at now which is no big deal because it's only a mile off the highway down a dirt road so I'm still only 15 or 20 minutes from shopping if I need something.

The place is a staging area because numerous trails leave from there going off in different directions to different places so folks can camp there and ride their ATVs all over the desert and to the nearby mountains. I figured it might be a little busy and noisy during the weekend so I drove out there this morning to find out what it looks like on a weekday and there were only two people camped there. So if it's busy this weekend I can deal with that as long as I know they'll be gone Sunday afternoon.

The one downside is that Verizon is very weak there. I don't know how it will be when I get the Arctic Fox out there and put up the cell phone booster antenna but I've got a feeling that posting on my blog might be difficult. So if I disappear for a while I'll still be writing but I'll have to drive to a place that has a cell phone signal to post to my blog.
