Sunrise in the neighborhood this morning.

It was a beautiful day today, the kind of winter day you only get in southern Arizona. Chilly in the morning and afternoon, but T-shirt weather for most of the day. And even though it got up into the mid-70s today, the low humidity made even the chilly weather feel good.

With weather like that there's a lot of things I could've done but unfortunately weather is usually not in control of what I try to accomplish, that is usually left to my lack of ambition, procrastination, and my lackadaisical concern for things I should be doing.

There was a time when I went places and did things, but due to a frequent shortage of money, and a less frequent desire to do anything interesting, I often find myself sitting around the same handful of places in Arizona where I can stay warm in the winter without much expense or effort.

I used to think nothing of driving from my Rocky Mountain home in Colorado, to Florida, and enjoying the trip along the way. But the money and the desire to do so, have long faded away, leaving me with places like Arizona, New Mexico, and occasionally the Texas Gulf Coast where I enjoy the ability to boondock most of the time without having to pay the outrageous campground fees that are already bad and heading for worse.

One of these days I need to work up enough gumption to take care of a few projects that I really need to do, such as installing my new vent fan, and hopefully before I get a serious rain. But I'm in a desert so what's the odds of that happening?

But I don't mind being lazy and shiftless, the only real effect on my life so far is it makes it more difficult to write a daily blog when the only thing I've done all day is.... Write my daily blog.

I know that the desert environment Isn't everyone's cup of tea, most folks probably consider it desolate with very few redeeming qualities. But to me I like the desolation, it fits right in with my loner mentality.

Anybody can love the Colorado mountains with endless views, boundless forests, and the roaring rivers that cut through it all. But finding beauty in the desert is more difficult and requires a deeper look.

I find, along with the peace and quiet, there's a sense of accomplishment, of being a boondocker and living not only IN the desert but WITH the desert, and being able to live comfortably while doing it.

And I'm reminded, when I'm in a desert like this, how many folks can actually accomplish that, and what a unique group of people I share these sunrises with.

I like these small class "C's" or huge class "B's", or whatever they're called Nowadays.
