Should I get back into making videos again ?

I've had thousands of Sandhill cranes fly over me, and I haven't been pooped on once, I wouldn't be able to say that if I was in Seagull country.

Yesterday was really windy, so windy in fact  I hardly went outside at all. Today was a little better but still pretty windy. I'm surprised the cranes had any feathers left on them.

Since I was stuck inside because of the wind, I worked on the video that I'm making showing the Sandhill Cranes. It's coming along okay, but as I mentioned before, by the time I get around to making a new video, I've forgotten everything I learned making the last video, so it takes some time and watching a couple of Internet videos to get me back up to speed again.

One of the things that bothers me about making videos is unlike a picture I've taken that I can look at and say, "it's done." I never feel that way about a video; every time I re-watch one of my videos, I find lots of things that I could change or do differently, so in my mind, it's never finished; I eventually just have to stop looking at it and send it away to wherever it's supposed to go and stop thinking about it.

But I am astute enough to know that video is a great medium for a full-timer. It tells a story much better than a photograph does, and I have lots of free time to fool with it if it just wasn't so darned difficult compared to snapping a picture.

Depending on how this current video turns out, I'm considering making more, maybe even a video, for every new place I go. The most useful video would be one I could make in the first day or two at a new location. For example, if I made a video at a new place, it would give everyone an insight into where I'm at and what I'm doing in this new area. But it takes me a while to take a bunch of video clips and a lot of time to assemble the mess into a watchable video. So I might be gone before I could finish the video.

For instance, I started working on a video of the Hunter Jumpers at the Pima County Fairgrounds about a week before I left, and it's still not finished. But I pushed it aside so I could do the Sandhill Crane video hopefully while I'm still here. I just wish making a video was as effortless as making a photograph.

I stuck my head out the door of the bronco and took this snapshot of some of the Sandhill Cranes going to feed.

I remember the first time I want to southern Colorado looking for Sandhill cranes a couple of years ago. And after much driving and much looking I finally spotted two cranes out in a farmers field hundreds of yards away, and I remember how happy and excited I was just to see two Sandhill Cranes together.... How will I ever get those feelings back again.
