Were you by any chance the person who told Yogi Berra what to do when you come to a fork in the road ?

Wasn't me but it was good advise.

And it's the kind of advice I try to live by.

If I was going to buy a new truck today I would buy just what I have with SRW except in the one ton iteration. I have no desire to use a Dooley as a daily driver, for all the reasons you mentioned plus a few more, like more difficult to check the inside rear tire pressure, more tires to buy, the difficulty of changing or even realizing that you have an inside rear tire that's flat. It's a better truck for hauling heavy loads but not by enough for me to deal with its inherent problems.

Thanks Tom - wow, that's really fantastic information on your trailer weights and heights! On the Northwood site, they now are listing the new 27-5L's at a GVWR of 13,400, so they've come down a little since you bought yours. It's good to know that you still had the 600 hundred pounds of weight left - that gives a little cushion, especially when most are overweight.

No problem, I've got lots of information, retrieving it is the problem. Between my epic procrastination and terminal laziness my organizational abilities are beyond hopeless.

Turning radiuses (backing or forward) on longer trailers would be a limiting factor for me. My rig is roughly the same tow vehicle rear axle to trailer axle distance as the same truck with a 27-5L. Much more than what I have would have stopped me many times in my 10+ years of roaming the outback.

I think the folks with bigger trailers just have to be more careful about the places they go. Here in Quartzsite there's so much desert that the biggest RV made can find plenty of places to stay, maybe that's one of the reasons Quartzsite is so popular in the winter, boondocking is not only free but it's also roomy.
