Should I stay or should I go?

Clicking the pics might bring back good memories of my stay at the Fairgrounds, and may even motivate me.

I'm still trying to make up my mind if I want to head back to the Pima County Fairgrounds tomorrow to watch the Hunter Jumper championships starting later in the week and going off and on for the rest of the month. I wouldn't stay there that long, of course, but I would kinda, sorta, like to watch the contest for a few days.

I'm not all that interested in watching the horses jump, but I feel I owe something to my teenage years when my first paying high school job was working at a Hunter Jumper boarding stable in Miami, Florida, as an Equine Sanitation Engineer and watching the riders and their horses here at the Fairgrounds, brings back memories of those days, mostly good, some not so much.

So knowing me, I'll probably make up my mind when I get up in the morning and determine how much interest and ambition I can muster at the time.

There are only about seven of us left here at the old rodeo grounds, and everyone is spread out pretty good, so I'm comfortable with my situation here. And there's nothing wrong with being here, except I'm a bit concerned about driving around out in the desert, thanks to the current administration that appears to be in cahoots with the Mexican drug cartels... How else can you explain the absolute disaster that's happening on the southern border that could be stopped, and yet there is no interest in doing so!

And diesel fuel is also pretty expensive in Ajo, as are groceries, and it's a looong way to the nearest Walmart. But it's been mostly in the 70s and 80s with single-digit humidity, and the future forecasts looks about the same, so there's not much wrong with where I'm at now.... So yeah, it's going to come down to ambition, or the lack thereof.

Well Barney I guess if the answers that obvious, I'll pack up my things and go... I did get a little homesick looking at those pictures from the fairgrounds.

Sounds to me like you'll probably move as you don't seem to like where you are very much. Also sounds like you didn't have a chance to do research with the locals. Ah well...time will tell.

Well, actually Judith I did do a little research. I briefly talked to the checkout lady at the grocery store, I spoke with the guy that was filling my propane tank, and I bought a local newspaper... Unfortunately, those people I talked to only spoke Spanish, but fortunately, because of my years living in Miami, I speak a little Cuban.

Unfortunately, Cuban doesn't translate very well into Mexican Spanish but I think the lady at the grocery store told me that my squid was on fire, and the guy filling my propane tank told me I look like my sister's brother that died swimming on the farm. I didn't learn a lot from those conversations except I can see why the Mexicans come here instead of Cuba.

At least I learned a little something from the local newspaper that said the border patrol had added extra people to patrol south of town in Ajo but they were mostly looking for illegals that were lost, or in trouble.

So none of that has affected me very much while in Ajo, but it has kept me from enjoying being out in the desert, which is one of my favorite things to do here. So I guess I'd rather head back to the fairgrounds and watch the horses jump instead of sitting here and not doing much of anything.
