Another beautiful day today, low 80s in the daytime, low 60s at night, and this is predicted to continue for at least the next 10 days. Which means I'm comfortable without air conditioning.

The trip to Lucille's Cajun restaurant has been put off for various reasons, but it looks like it might be on again for Thursday. I'm looking forward to going there, but it's usually something to do with me that keeps the date moving ahead.

Now that the truck has passed its emissions test, and the results should have made it to the DMV by now, I ordered my tag, and hopefully, it will be here in a week or so. Usually, passing the emissions test and renewing my truck tag is my biggest accomplishment of the summer, but this summer, I have to renew my drivers' license by September, and since that's going to entail an eye exam, which I'm badly in need of anyway, that's going to be my major project for this summer.

And speaking of driver's licenses. At my age, typically, the DMV wants you to show up in person so they can not only test your eyes but your hearing, and apparently to determine if you're still rational, which I never was, but I still managed to get a drivers license anyway.

But as a holdover from the Bat flu problems, the state of Colorado is still trying to protect government workers from any human contact, which is why I'm not required to show up at the DMV to get my drivers license renewed, which is great. And if it were up to me, I'd never go to another DMV office for the rest of my life.

You would like the driver's license thing in Texas. My card photo is more than 10 years old, the last time I had to appear in person. I'm 75. I renewed online in 2017, and am good to go til 2023. Well, at least that's what the license says. I'll keep pretending that's true....

Nice that you have a place in the mountains that is all yours and you can stay in peace and quiet if you are so inclined. Meanwhile, a trip to Monarch will be interesting.

I believe there's a lot of things I like about Texas, and I seem to find more every day. And it appears the way they handle the drivers licenses is another one.

Yeah my property has always been an escape for me. It's far enough away to feel like your somewhere else, and yet close enough to get there fairly easily. Use to when I had a lot more to worry about than I do now days, I could go to my property in the mountains which is only 40 acres, but it borders national forest on two sides so I had plenty of room to roam, spend a long weekend and be totally relaxed the whole time. I guess I don't need to do that as much as I used to because now days my worries are few, and my joys are many.

Yeah I'm looking forward to going to Monarch. I'll be around car folks all the time, and I can relate. These Hill climb races have very few spectators, it's mostly just the racers and their families, and they love what they're doing.

So I take some pictures of the guys and gals with their race cars and give them any good photos I happen to get, which makes them happy, and of course I'm always happy because I'm boondocking and taking pictures the whole weekend... Life is good.

Judith you made me check my Texas license and I am good until 2025. I could not remember when I was due again.

If you don't show up in person for your drivers license how do they check your eyes?

Thanks for the question Leo, I imagine others were wondering about that too.

The new law In Colorado says If you're a certain age you have to have in your possession a receipt from an eye doctor showing that you had an eye exam within the last three years, and your last license renewal was at the DMV and not over the Internet.

This is a new thing and was started during the Bat flu pandemic. I don't know if they will continue doing it this way but at the moment I meet all the criteria for renewing my drivers license on the Internet once I get my eye exam.

As you will have seen, I have replied to Leo. As for you, here are things I too like about Texas, having grown up here and loving the variety and the landscapes, but the Texas govt is something else.....But I'm an old fan of Molly Ivins. Look her up.She has some things to say that are always funny.

Leo!!. This is Texas. They DON'T check your eyes. I find it incredible that they don't do anything at all about that. I am due for cataract surgery soon. Do they care??? Apparently not. I am still legal on the road.

I did look up Molly Ivins, she is indeed very funny, and made me laugh. But I disagree with much of her politics.

The more time I spend in Texas the more things I find to like about it, and I'm hoping if I can get a smaller more nimble RV I'll be more inclined to spend time in Texas.
