Some facts about my weboost connection

I did some experimenting with the weboost today and here's what I have found.

There are 2 antennas with the weboost an outside antenna and an inside antenna. The outside antenna gathers the signals from the cell tower and sends it to the booster then the booster sends it to the inside antenna and the inside antenna sends it to the phone . Now here's the rub. The outside antenna the booster, and the inside antenna are all hooked together with wires which means that the signal pretty much stays the same from the outside antenna to the inside antenna. But it's a wireless connection between the inside antenna and your cell phone so the distance between the inside antenna and your cell phone is very critical.

This is my normal unboosted signal strength at my current location. This is a weak signal, but the phone does everything it's supposed to and I can get on the Internet but things are kind of slow. Remember a low number is better. At this strength my download speeds are 4.56 Mbps and my upload speeds are 1.50 Mbps.

I haven't had a chance to do a whole lot of experimenting yet but so far it seems to me that if the cell phone is more than 3 feet away from the inside antenna the boost is hardly worth the effort. You get your maximum boost when the inside antenna is touching your cell phone and that boost fades quickly away every inch you move from the inside antenna.

This is a weboosted strength with the phone 3 feet from the indoor antenna. The download speed is 6.42 Mbps and the upload is 7.88 Mbps

This is a weboosted signal strength with the indoor antenna touching the cell phone. The speeds are, 7.17 download Mbps, and 12.1 upload Mbps

To deal with this problem I'm setting up my inside antenna to be used in two different ways. Way number one is the inside antenna is Velcroed to the wall behind my easy chair when I want to talk on the phone and my reception is not too bad.

Way number two is I'm going to Velcro the phone to the inside antenna. This will give me maximum boost when my reception is really bad or I need to use fast data.

I know when I do this I have a wired phone just like the old days but the cord is about 6 feet long and there is a significant gain in reception

Now there still some experimenting to be done and some of it will have to be done when I'm traveling and have different signal strengths to deal with. But where I'm at now about all I can do is move the outside antenna around a little bit, I still don't have it mounted on the painters pole yet and I'm hoping some extra height will help out because right now the antenna is hardly  as high as the front of the trailer. Also I can move the inside antenna around a little bit and see if that helps but I'm not too hopeful about that because so far it seems that the distance between the inside antenna and the cell phone is the only thing that really matters.

So my initial impressions are, a bit of disappointment over the limited useful distance between the inside antenna and the cell phone. But other than that it does boost the signal in a significant way. And from what I understand the weaker the signal is the more its boosted. And I believe I can live with having the inside antenna Velcroed to the phone in certain areas because even though it may be inconvenient it sure beats not having any phone service at all.
