I filled a 20# bottle two days ago for $12.19 here in Alamogordo, NM. It might be cheaper to use the SP electric sites when we need heating.

That's about $2.40 a gallon which is about the normal price I expect to pay when running around in the West, except of course for Denver which is much higher.

This is a school holiday week coming up so it got near full last night but a few sites were empty on my late evening walk. When I got here Thursday about 2/3 of the sites were empty but all the reservable sites were reserved. Hit here Monday through Thursday for the best chance of a site. The weather has been wonderful. I did run the onboard heater last night and this morning my batts read 12.58 volts so it must not have run much. The morning temp was 41.

Good information. It seems like state parks are filling up just like everything else nowadays. I read a statistic on the Internet that said that between four and 500,000 RVs are being made every year, and I guess they got to camp somewhere.

I read somewhere that the prefilled tanks are not filled to capacity. Try weighing one prefilled vs. hand filled.....a gallon of propane weighs 4.2 lbs. I believe. Not only are you paying more for prefilled but you might be getting less gas.

You're exactly right Larry, and that's what the post on my blog is going to be about today.

That sounds about right my alleged 10 gallon tanks always get 9 point something in them when I fill them up.
