Tonight's pictures will have a theme, and the theme is..... Five places I'd rather be than a Walmart parking lot.
And the first place is boondocking in Quartzsite Arizona.
I am still tenuously parked in the Trinidad Walmart parking lot because of the local high wind warnings. I'm getting a little antsy now because this will be my third night at this Walmart, and that's really pushing Walmarts generosity. But the wind is supposed to die down tomorrow morning, so I should be able to get out of here then if I can manage to slip under the Walmart radar for one more night. I wish I could be stealthy and blend in as some van people can, but the Arctic Fox stands out like an albino whale washed up on a black sand beach.
I have to post more old pictures today as I don't even want to get out in the parking lot to take a new photo. This wind makes doing anything outside miserable. It got up in the mid-50s today but with the wind blowing 30 miles an hour and gusts up to 50, just walking around outside is not much fun. It's the kind of wind that can yank the trailer door out of your hand if you're not careful.
Since I still haven't found a blown fuse for my inoperable electric valve on my kitchen gray water tank. I have two gray water tanks, one for the kitchen, one for the bathroom. I called Northwood, the Arctic Fox's manufacturer, and talked to a very knowledgeable service guy about my problem, and he said that on my model fifth wheel, which is a 27 – 5L, the fuse could be in any one of three locations, and it wouldn't be labeled..... That bit of knowledge alone gives you an idea about the difficulty of maintaining and repairing an RV.
I had already checked two of those locations and all the fuses were fine. I didn't even know about the third location, so I'm sure that bit of knowledge will help me in the future, so I checked the five fuses there, and they were all okay. Sitting in my easy chair and looking back over the situation, it seems to me what I've learned so far could be good news or bad news, but at least it's not something that's affecting my life right now, and that's always good news.
The next place I'd rather be is Laughlin Nevada. I would still be boondocked in a parking lot like I am now, but at least I could eat at the buffet.
Another place I'd rather be is in the desert, where I could walk up a hill anytime I wanted to and take a picture.
The fourth place I'd rather be is under any desert sunset.
The other place I'd rather be, is with my family. But that will have to wait for a few months.
