struggling

It's not a struggle to click the pics, I like to think that it's an opportunity.

The area you see here is where the South Platte River enters Chatfield reservoir. And the last time I was here the South Platte looked like a fast-moving mountain river, which was really cool.

But now, the Corps of Engineers has enlarged The South Platt River in this area to the point that all traces of the river have gone, and it looks like it's just more Lake....I miss the raging river that used to flow under the bridge.

It was a bit cloudy and rainy today, so the temperature never reached the mid-70s, I was actually walking around with a long sleeve shirt on for most of the day since a lot of the day was in the low 60s.

I feel the urge to do something next week since I was disappointed about not seeing the Roundhouse in Como, Colorado, that I was looking forward to, but I'm struggling to come up with another idea.

I need to go to my property near 11 Mile State Park, check things out, and fire a few rounds to ensure my personal protection is still correctly sighted in. I haven't been there in a while, and I've never been there toting the Lance.

 There are a couple of ways of getting to my property from the Denver area, and one of them would have me driving right by Como Colorado. This made me think that I could stop by Como on the way to my property to see what's going on, take a few snapshots of some old buildings, and save the picture taking of the Roundhouse for September 16th during my mini-vacation. If I did that, it would have to be early next week so I could avoid getting tangled up with any Labor Day holiday traffic.

But there's a good chance of rain on Sunday and Monday for the foothill areas. And since the road to my property is nothing more than a glorified jeep trail, and I would like to keep it that way since it discourages flatlanders from trespassing, especially during hunting season. But there's one area where the truck has to ford a small stream that can get somewhat difficult if it's been raining too much. So rain, the amount, and when it's happening, is something I have to be aware of.

So I don't know if the weather will cooperate with me getting to do something fun before the Labor Day holiday rolls around, and I may start getting bored if I don't get a new view every once in a while. And what tends to happen is I find myself slipping deeper into a rut and doing the same things over and over again, and the tedium of that tends to remove Interesting challenges from my life causing me to sink deeper and deeper into the rut I've created.

And if that goes on long enough I become complacent and start accepting the rut I'm in,  losing the motivation to even try to crawl out. And before you know it I'll end up with a one-way ticket to the old geezers home, and unending conversations with people I barely know about "the good old days"

But like I've said before I tend to live in the present, and I'm more interested in the future that I am in the past, so I'm nowhere near that point yet because I'm still working on getting myself motivated.

Theboondork

This paddle-boarder, that's heading into the dark and dismal swamp thinks he has seen something lurking behind some brush. Maybe it was a slight disturbance, a few bubbles, or maybe it was just an eerie feeling that he was being watched.

Whatever it was it wasn't enough to deter him or make him change his course. but the swamp takes no prisoners, tells no tales, and careless fools stand almost no chance of surviving even one poorly thought out decision.

Will he live to regret his decision.... will he live at all?

Brand-new beautiful Hibiscus blossom in the yard right next to the Arctic Fox just opened up. This blossom is about 8 inches across.

Two days later the voracious Japanese Beatles have discovered the new blossom.

Two more days and this is all that's left.

The Japanese Beatles are an invasive species that were accidentally brought here in imported plants and have spread from East to West. Colorado is now the most Western area that the Beatles have taken over.
