Taking the grand kids to Hudson gardens

Fall is in full swing at the Hudson Gardens and their already having to rake the leaves.

Took the grandkids to a place called Hudson Gardens, which is four or five miles from the house. It's kind of like a park. It's got woods and lakes and streams and lots of gardens with flowers and things growing everywhere. Except for this time of year, there was not an abundance of flowers. I think that first snowfall finished off a lot of them, and what's left looks a little long in the tooth.

There wasn't any playground equipment, but there were boulders to climb on, and around here that passes for playground equipment. It gave the kids a few hours of running around burning up some energy, and me a chance to take some pictures. The place wasn't crowded at all, so I didn't have to wear my Bat flu mask, but I kept it in my pocket just because that's the rules in Denver.

I'm still, ever so slowly, getting the little Bronco slide in camper ready to take a mini-vacation around the middle of next month. Every once in a while, I'll throw something in the camper that I'm going to need in southern Colorado, but not here in the Arctic Fox before I leave, and mostly it's been stuff to keep me warm.

The little Bronco camper, being a pop-up camper, is not very well insulated. And it really can't be because about 1/3 of the sides are a waterproof canvas looking stuff. So I can heat it without a problem, but five minutes after the furnace turns off, the Broncos cold again. But that's okay, I didn't buy it to spend the winters in it, and it stays warm enough for its intended purpose.

This is a cute train set up, it's got a whole town and the thing looks like it covers maybe 1/8 of an acre or so. I don't know what gauge it is, and there's far too many of them to guess but the rails looked to be about 3 inches apart. It wasn't running so there was no one to ask.

It usually takes some cold and snow to remind the leaves it's time to go..... Hey! I just made that up! I'm a poet and I don't know it.

I've decided that when I get to geezerly to tow the Arctic Fox around I'm going to buy one of these bicycles and hire somebody to peddle me to southern Arizona for the winter. There's just enough room in it to carry my camera equipment and a change of underwear..... Just kidding! ...... I don't have a change of underwear.
