After 30 yrs. as LEO I 've learned to follow my gut. Situational Awareness is the appropriate way to make decisions. You are right to avoid Ajo at this point in time. It is unfortunate that a citizen has to avoid travel to area's in this country due to impact by illegals. The federal govt. is failing these folks (some who are desperate and others are predator's) and the citizens of this country. As the weather cools along the border the influx will only increase. Follow your gut and stay safe.

Thanks for that Larry. I knew that area of Arizona was in trouble when many years ago I attempted to visit the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument which is 15 or 20 miles south of Ajo, and I was greeted with signs inside the National Monument warning me that there was the possibility of running into drug smugglers in that area, and it might be dangerous.

Maybe it's a batting cage that travels from one festival to another?

A batting cage? I never considered that. It does kinda look like one. I assume he's not going to set it up in Quartzsite because folks here are so old they can barely hit a golf ball even though it's not moving.... So I guess that's a possibility... But I still think it's a cage full of Howler Monkeys, after all who wouldn't want a pet Howler Monkey?
