Thanksgiving dinner menu

There's no turkey, no cranberry sauce, no pecan pie..... But you can click the pics anyway.

Since I was at the Safeway grocery store in Wickenburg I decided I would drive out to Box Wash and spend the night there. And this picture was sunrise this morning. I stuck my camera out the door, took a picture, and went back to bed.

I packed up the bronco this morning about 9 o'clock, left Congress, and headed for Wickenburg to do some grocery shopping at the Safeway.

I bought my Thanksgiving dinner, which I'm sure no one will recognize as a Thanksgiving dinner because it consisted of two pieces of smoked salmon, some coleslaw, and a Key Lime pie. And no that's not the Thanksgiving dinner I would've been having before I became a fulltimer, and its definitely not traditional. But it's things that I enjoy eating and I only eat them on special occasions.

I've always loved smoked salmon but the stuff is so expensive I hate to spend so much money on something that small, that I can eat so quick, but it sure is good.

 When I was in my early teens, my dad was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base which was south of Miami and near to the Florida Keys. So I grew up as a teenager fishing and diving in the Keys, and somewhere along the way learned to love Key Lime Pie.

 My mom, being born and raised in the South, was an excellent cook and made everything from scratch. And even though I didn't recognize it when I was a kid, I was eating some of the best food there was. And for Thanksgiving she would always make Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, and Key Lime pie all of which were delicious.

And in fact as a teen my favorite foods were, fresh lobster, that I caught while I was skin-diving. Conch, Pronounced "konk" Fritters, you could buy fresh Conch at any fish market. Fried shrimp, they were live shrimp left over from a day of fishing. And Key Lime Pie.

So I will enjoy my meal on Thanksgiving, even though it's about as untraditional as you can get. Because it's things I like, and requires no preparation on my part, which fits right in with my lazy lifestyle.

This is an Air Force F35 fighter which is stationed at Luke Air Force Base near Phoenix. A few of them nearly flew over my head yesterday. But they were pretty far away, and up really high so decent pictures were hard to get.

My latest boondocking spot at Box Wash. I figure there's no sense driving all the way back to Congress, since Box Wash is only about 10 minutes away from the Safeway. It sure is handy to have my home with me wherever I go. For one thing I never forget to bring anything I need, I have everything with me all the time, no matter where I am. But, that means I can't own too much stuff..... And I count that as a good thing.

Another boondocking van. I don't think I would like the vans that have a pop-up top like this one. I would imagine it's got the same problems of having to put the top up and down every time you want to drive somewhere just like the bronco, and for me it's pop-top has become one of my biggest complaints about the bronco.

I'm thinking of going for a walk in the desert early in the morning tomorrow. But the weather report says there shouldn't be any clouds, so it won't look like this.
