Last night's sunset at Winslow Arizona

I drove all the way to Laughlin Nevada today which is about 240 miles and is substantially over my self-imposed limit of daily driving. Checking the weather report last night it was predicted to have high winds for the next three days in the area I would be driving so I figured I'd better get settled into a casino parking lot before all that hit the fan.

So now with the blessings of the Riverside resort hotel and casino I'm currently boondocked in the parking lot and enjoying the 80° temperatures which are predicted for at least the next week. Security told me that they have an official two-week stay limit, but if you don't cause any trouble you can stay as long as you want, that's the kind of rules I like.

I know 80° may sound warm to some folks, but it feels really good to me and night times are supposed to be in the low 60s which is good sleeping weather. And remember this is a desert so the humidity is very low.

I have officially given up on the wireless cameras, neither one of them was of any help at all the entire day, they simply don't have a picture on long enough to be of any use at all. As much as I hate to admit defeat these cameras have defeated me. So I'll be ordering some wired cameras as soon as I get settled down somewhere.

The Casino web site shows campsites at $110 a week. Is there free camping there also?

Right across the street from the parking lot where I'm boondocked the Riverside has a very nice, RV Park, which I've never been in but it looks pretty fancy from here. And I guess that's where the people that don't want to boondock stay.

I think pretty much every casino here on the strip lets RVs boondock in their parking lots. The Geezer crowd appears to be a staple at the Laughlin casinos and I think the reason is the casinos are every bit as glitzy as the Las Vegas strip, but without the crowds, the parking problems, and drunken kids celebrating their 21st birthday. In other words its more laid-back and appears to be happy appealing to the senior crowd.

There's also plenty of boondocking in the desert surrounding Laughlin for folks that want to get away from everybody. But for me the parking lot is perfect, there's inexpensive food nearby, Bullhead city which is right across the Colorado river from Laughlin is a real town with everything you would need, and my neighbors that I've talked to in the parking lot, and the people that work in the casino have all been really nice. So I'll probably stay here at least a week if not two.

I see your out hanging around with the town big shots now, I hope you don't forget about us little folk that knew you back before you got famous.

Wow, 80's during the day (with low humidity) and 60's at night sounds like heaven. It's amazing how different the comfort level is between high and low humidity. This is another place I'm going to pin unto Google earth for the future.

Yeah low humidity is the key to staying cool without an air conditioner running, which is exactly why the deserts are so popular for boondocker’s in the winter. It got up in the high 80s today but with my vent fans going, and my floor fan on, I was perfectly comfortable. And that doesn’t work in the South where the humidity is high.

Laughlin Nevada is a place that I think every RVer should visit at least once. It’s kind of like Quartzsite in that it’s set up for RVers, because RVers appear to constitute a large part of the casinos customer base. And to quote an old saying, the casinos know which side their bread is buttered on.
