Heading South.... This is what I'll be doing very soon. It's kinda weird to think that maybe I'll see these same Sandhill Cranes at the Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico or Whitewater Draw in Arizona... It's a good thing I named them all so I'll be able to recognize them in the crowd.
I finished installing the Arctic fox's lithium iron batteries in the Lance. But, I was only able to get three of them in the box where the batteries go, so now I've got one battery just hanging around without a purpose in life, and I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it.
Should I leave it here in Denver? Can I find a way to hook it up with the regular batteries? Should I go to the trouble of enlarging the battery box? I will probably ignore these and many other questions since working with these heavy batteries for the last few days is bad for my back and has seriously cut into my relaxing time.
I haven't paid much attention to the one battery that came with the Lance since I had always planned on putting the Arctic foxes battery in the Lance, so I was really surprised today when I found out that the battery that I've been using since I got the Lance was a starting battery and not a deep cycle battery at all.
For those that don't know, a starting battery is an inexpensive battery used to start your vehicle and is not designed to do the job that a deep cycle battery does, which is to be deeply discharged and recharged over and over many times without self-destructing. So I was amazed that it worked as well as it did. It worked so well I had always assumed it was a deep-cycle battery... But then again, I didn't use it all that much, and now it's been placed in the pile of things to get rid of, since it can't be mixed in with the lithium iron battery bank.
My family is discussing what they want to wear for Halloween. And apparently, it was decided that the family would dress up like Star Wars characters. This would start with my 6'5" son-in-law being Darth Vader. I think my granddaughter is going to be Princess Leia, my grandson is going to be Luke Skywalker, my daughter is going to be some other kind of queen, and the family dog is going to be an Ewok, which will be very believable since Ewoks were designed to look like my families dog. Of course, I'm going to dress in my normal costume that represents a cranky, but lovable, old curmudgeon that yells at the neighbor kids to "GET OFF MY LAWN !"
Fall leaves in Alamosa Colorado.
Fall in the Colorado high country can bring a mix of snow, and 70° weather, quite possibly in the same day.
The Colorado high country beckons, but the dusting of snow, and the below freezing temperatures, keeps me heading over the pass, and out of the high lonesome until next summer.
This is the three BattleBorn batteries that I could fit in the Lances battery box. I haven't used the new wires to wire them in parallel yet in this picture.
