Things started getting busy at Haggard's RV Park. They got the swimming pool filled up and running this morning, I helped move an ice machine from the back of the office building to the front, and RVs have been trickling in all day.
It's been chilly and cloudy all day. I don't think it's hit 60° all day, and yet some of the first kids to show up went straight to the pool as cold as it was.
I guess tomorrow will begin the first day of the summer tourist season. I hope it's a good one because there's a lot of folks in Colorado whose livelihoods depend on visitors from all over the country showing up in great numbers, and with money to spend.
Since I used to be in the tourist business in Colorado I know how difficult it can be at times especially in the mountains where I was. The seasons not very long, it would start on the Memorial Day weekend and end on the second weekend of August when everyone had to get the kids back in school. there was a little money to be made before Memorial Day, and some money could be made after the kids went back to school, especially during the leaf season, But for the most part you made the bulk of your income in June, July, and the first half of August.
They'll be a whole lot of people up in the mountains this weekend camping, and fishing, and just having a good time in general so I hope it warms up because it was snowing in the mountains today and that's not a good way to start the first holiday of the summer.
