Some sunset pictures I took as I was walking around last night.The Hunter Jumper course is on the right.

The sunset wasn't all that great but I was just walking around anyway kinda saying goodbye to the place since it was supposedly my last night here.

It's a good thing I didn't have any serious plans because the wind and the rain were just enough to make me prefer staying here for one more day instead of dealing with marginal weather while traveling. But it's no big deal; tomorrow looks just fine and getting somewhere today, tomorrow, or a week from now, really doesn't matter to me.

Along with the rain and wind, the weather guessers are predicting some snow in the area for tonight. Ordinarily, I wouldn't put much stock in that prediction, but the way the weather has been in southern Arizona this winter, more snow wouldn't surprise me.

I've noticed a lot of folks aren't here anymore. I don't know where they are; I just know they're not here. As I walk around, I see entire full hookup campgrounds here at the Pima County Fairgrounds, which were full when I got here, are now completely devoid of anything faintly resembling a camper. And the main campground across the street from me looks only about half full.

It's hard to believe all of these folks packed up and headed north already because, north of here, the weather looks even worse than it is here. Oh well, it's not my problem. It's a full-time job just keeping myself happy and comfortable without worrying about what other people are doing.

This is one of the full hookup campgrounds at the Pima County Fairgrounds, and when I got here a few weeks ago it was full.

Same thing with this one. Full hookup sites, full when I got here, desolate now. There's a couple more full hookup campgrounds but I didn't feel like walking that far, and it was starting to get dark.

What I thought would be my last night boondocking at the Pima County Fairgrounds until next Fall.

From what I read that wind turned into an onslaught in southern NM. It's on it's way here, and we will have a chance of thunderstorms. I won't mind the rain, but there is such a thing as too much weather excitement.
Hope you have smooth travels, and by the way, nice sunsets!!

Thank you, Judith; I enjoy taking pictures of sunsets; I would enjoy taking pictures of sunrises too, if I didn't have to get up so early to do it.

All the bad weather blew over today, so it didn't last very long, but yeah, there was a lot of wind.

I'll be leaving in the morning, hopefully, and it looks like it's going to be a nice day except for the high temperatures only supposed to be in the low 50s, which in ordinary times would be the low nighttime temperatures. But it seems like these aren't normal times.

I feel your pain. We landed at Picacho SP yesterday. We had high winds and rain overnight. The flowers are beautiful and it is early in the season. We have had cold temps, high winds, and rain the entire trip. Even the five days we spent in So. Cal were blustery. Heading to Karcher Caverns tomorrow for 4 days then home to Texas. I wish for a tail wind across NM. PS: Having to make reservations suck......

Thanks for the information Larry, especially the info about the flowers at Picacho, I haven't had any first-hand information about the current flower situation for a couple of weeks.

I'm going to delay leaving here for yet another day due to high winds and get this, a "winter weather advisory" for where I'm heading. I've got about 4 inches of snow on the steps of the Lance this morning, and since I don't know how well they take care of the roads around here when it snows, I'll wait until things get better. Which will hopefully be tomorrow; of course, I said that yesterday.

And yes, it has been a weird winter for Southern Arizona and even New Mexico; I keep hoping it will improve this Spring.

And you're right, I don't have to deal with reservations very often; but when I do... They suck!
